Obama's handlers just released his (8th) new campaign slogan; "Forward".
This follows:

"Hope and Change"

"Winning the Future"

"An America Built to Last"

"A Fair Shot"

"Win the Future"

"We Can't Wait"

"An Economy Built to Last"

And now it's "Forward", which might not be too bad if it weren't for the
fact that 81% of Americans didn't think Obama is leading the country in
the wrong direction. Given Obama's miserable record, failed economic
policies, out of control spending and lack of leadership it's no surprise
he's desperately flailing around for a new campaign slogan. But the more
accurate, and truthful, slogan for Obama is:

"Forward, Just Like Thelma and Louise". (For those who didn't see the
movie, they drove a car full speed off a cliff and in to the Grand Canyon).

Irish Mike

Obama has been an unmitigated disaster for this country. If you voted for
Obama in 2008 to prove you're not a racist, vote against him in 2012 to
prove you're not an idiot.

Yup, no movie called "forward" is coming out. Once again, not even
an {OT} . . .

As others have been pointing out, 'Forward' has been the
conspicuous slogan of several socialist and communist
movements, going back to the big one.

You're right, that's not nearly as good as the
Republican slogan, "Backward."

If America could rewind the clock to say 1991, they might have been
able to avoid destoying the World's economy.

The most outrageous thing Archie said was to fight hijackings (common
in the 1970s) by passing out guns to all passengers on airplanes.

Speaking of Mr. Bunker, the left seems to have
forgotten one of the most eloquent points made by that
TV show. For all his racially charged talk, Archie
was seen not to be racist concerning a black friend
of the family, whom he accepted in a totally color-
blind way.

Today not only is someone who speaks politically
incorrectly concerning race (see a recent thread)
assumed to be personally racist in the worst way,
but any conservative or Republican, no matter how
non-racial his or her speech may be, is still
assumed to be racist, and often overtly accused
of it.

Archie Bunker was way ahead of today's 'progressive'
meatheads.

You asked what the *best* way was, and I gave my
opinion. I don't think there is a *worst* way.
It's a bottomless pit. And I haven't defended RichA.
I don't know whether he's personally racist or not.
I do know that I would be a fool to uncritically accept
your estimation of him, though.

Please remove "in the worst way" from the statement
above. As I said in a later post, there is no
'worst way' one can be racist. It is a bottomless pit.

This "personally racist in the worst way," what's the "best way" you can
be personally racist?

So, using a racial slur, i.e., speaking racism, *is* being "personally
racist in the worst way." Why did you so zealously defend Rich when he
used a racial slur?

Is the Lionel Jefferson character the one you meant?

I will answer because someone else reading this
may innocently want to know. Also because I'm
morbidly curious about how you will use his
identification to deflect attention from what
I said.

The first name, Lionel, sounds right. I don't
remember the last name. He was a young man.

I didn't see the episode from which you quoted.
What I do remember seeing was an episode when
Archie said something 'racially charged' (as I
mentioned previously) and then Lionel walked
into the room and Archie said something like,
"Oh, hi Lionel", innocently not realizing that
his own color-blindedness toward this family
friend had given the lie to whatever the racial
statement was that he had just made.

What you quoted does not refute what I said,
either originally or in the previous paragraph.
It just adds what you remember, or looked up,
to the mix. My point, from which you seem
(unsurprisingly) determined to deflect attention,
was that Archie's racially-charged words, even
in the example you gave, do not reveal how he
really was in actual company. Maybe the point is
too subtle for you, obsessed as you are with other
people's supposed racism.

I remember a similar thing in the movie, GIANT (1956),
one of my favorite movies as a teenager. The elder
Benedict's son had married a Mexican, and he did not
have the slightest problem with either the wife or
his half-Mexican grandchild. But he still could
make racially charged sentiments about how the son
should have expected difficulties when he married "in
that direction".

You're an idiot. That wasn't color-blindness... it was pure ignorance,
portrayed just as intended.

He was so entrenched in his racism that he was ignorant of it's
effects on others.

So, when he called a movie, a "negroid" movie, and you posted in
opposition to those objecting to his use of a racial slur, you weren't
defending him, you were only condemning people who post in opposition to
racial slurs because you contend that just because a person uses a
racial slur doesn't mean he's a racist, eh? Perhaps you don't think
"negroid movie" is a racial slur?

You said "Archie was seen not to be racist concerning a black friend
of the family, whom he accepted in a totally color-blind way," and I
asked which character you meant. You're just stalling because you can't
furnish the proof of your original assertion.

Incidentally, every time I see you loudmouthed liars use the word
"deflect" to mean "request proof that supports one of your lies," I know
I've caught you in another lie, old man.
