| I'm working the WS and there is a good chance I could be in the
winners locker room tonight or tomorrow. Any advice on protecting my
gear from all the flying champagne beside normal rain gear? What's
best for covering my boom without effecting sound quality?

There's always plastic wrap to cover the foam or zepp leaving the
front uncovered of course. Then there's"hogs hair" or a piece of
furnace filter material available at Home Depot and the like. Just
wrap it around the mic and pray a lot. OTOH extra large size unlubed
condoms are a fall back option. With any luck you'll be in the
Yankee's locker room.

The condoms work pretty good for the mic, a zep or foam wind screen
can be rinsed out later.
Not much you can do about the boom itself aside from getting a Home
Depot paint roller stick, of course it would look pretty ridiculous.
(especially if you happen to get in frame on a worldwide b'cast) |

Oh yeah....dozens of sound mixers all over the US will be pausing their
DVR's to notice the paint pole!
Personally, I'd just use my darth vader rain poncho, an older pole with a
beat up full zep and call it good. I'd also add in an additional half hour
of time on my timecard or invoice for cleaning up everything. |

Dude, you got it so right.
God, I'd love to be in the Phillies locker room tomorrow after they come
back and win the WS! But it might be better to be in the Yankee's clubhouse
to see the world's most expensive baseball team cryin' into their beers.

Doug,
The Yankee's don't drink beer, only champagne.
