Archived from groups: alt>movies>coppola (more info?)

Hello ...

I am considering purchasing VHS copies of the first two "Godfather"
films. I would welcome information/opinions about whether the
widescreen format would make a big difference one way or the other.

I've noticed someone saying that the first two films weren't shot in a
widescreen version that is as noticeably different as it is with other
films.

One concern I have is that I have a 13-inch television, and I'm
wondering if a widescreen version, with the black bars, would really
consequently give me quite a small picture area when viewing the films
on my television. I have found that can sometimes be the case with
other "letterboxed" VHS films.

That's why I'm wondering if a "standard" VHS format -- or
non-widescreen -- would make a lot of difference. Would I really lose
a lot of the picture?

Or is it true that with these particular films, as I saw mentioned,
it's not that big a difference with the non-widescreen (which would
then give me more viewing area on my small television).

Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated.

Linda W.
