A toss-up between THE SEARCHERS, GOD IS MY CO-PILOT, and THE ALAMO (1960).
Probably more than 30 times each, the latter two more frequently when I was
a kid.
With a child who loves Buster Keaton, his films are catching up fast.

"Dinner At Eight" is one of my favorite films. I've seen it dozens of times over
the years and now have the DVD. |

I just saw again, after many years, one of my favorites - Beau Geste.
Great performances by the lead characters, but equally interesting
were those of 2ndary actors, J. Carol Nash, Brian Donlevy, Albert
Decker, et.al. And it always amazes me how much the five kids look
like the grown-up version of their characters. Even Donald O'Connor --

The original King Kong and the original The Thing. They played forever
on New York TV when I was a kid and I watched both as many times as I
could. I've probably seen both near 100 times and re-watched The Thing
recently. I still love those flicks and still watch them.

Hard to say, but probably Unforgiven or TGTBTU, Hope and Glory,
Groundhog Day, or The Godfather. Of course, there's alway Casablanca,
The Wizard of Oz, The Ten Commandments, or Citizen Kane, all of which
I watched pretty much yearly my entire youth, BC and BVCR (before
cable and VCRs) |

They played the hell out of those movies. And Mighty Joe Young, I
Married A Witch, Thief of Bagdad, Il Bedone, tons of stuff and good
stuff too. Ran a movie all week. Opened with the theme to Gone With
The Wind. That's part of how I came to love movies. NYC TV in those
days just rocked. And then the Late Show and the Late Late Show. Hmm
hmm, good eatin'.

Add "5 Million Years to Earth" (aka "Quatermas and The Pit") Set the
Beta machine and went out to party.

Back in the day, "Million Dollar Movie" on Channel 9 (?) used to show the same
film every week night for a week.
I watched "Godzilla" all 5 times!
Then of course, Channel 11 had "Chiller Theatre" on Saturday night, which was a
"must watch"! |

Probably On the Waterfront, with Searchers a close second. |

I used to like the tug of war in Mighty Joe Young so much, especially
the introductin of the strong men, that I had it timed from the
beginning - 32 minutes. I'd turn on the TV, watch it, and turn on
something else.

From what I understand, "A Man Is Ten Feet Tall" was the Philco
Television Playhouse drama on TV and then it was adapted for the
Martin Ritt flick starring John Cassavetes and Sidney Poitier. Didn't
see the Philco version. Might be nice to compare them.

I admit that On the Waterfront is a good movie, gave it 8/10. Acting was
great, especially Malden(the priest) and Cobb(union boss). Even Brando
was bearable. However the story was not very special or believable on
all accounts. |
