| From the 3.5mm 4-conductor AV plug. Can someone do a quick check on this
for me? I don't have one to test. Probably tip=left out, ring 1=right out,
ring 2=common and sleeve=composite video out. I'd love a confirmation.
Thanks all.

I'd guess you were right except that the tip is usually the LEFT
channel, with the ring being the Right.

Hi Phillip,
Isn't that what I said? God, I can't think straight any more. I am finding
that it might be different on the 5D, perhaps tip=composite video, ring
1=right, ring 2=left and sleeve=common. Someone have a continuity tester
and the cable<bg>. I have one and not the other; the reverse is true for my
client. Sigh.

Yeah, that seems to be inputs only. Nice looking tho. This guy wants tails
in and out for a Remote Audio ENG snake. "Remember boys and girls, the
Remote Audio snake and the PSC snake are wired differently<g>"

....and the Ravenscourt is different again!
There is a mic out between the 2 XLRs, but no pigtail for the audio,
which means it's probably a Pre/Post fade out
....and I'm sure I could work 2 balanced audio receivers in there so
only unbalanced audio would be sent over the last few inches and not
the whole snake/loom. |

Yes correct. Should be no issue.

"Should".... hmm.
Anyway.
If your happy with unbalanced, don't haul around the extra cable and
don't waste money, the 5D isn't going to be able to take the weight of
a loom/snake like camera's with XLRs can, it will strain the inputs on
the camera and the jacks.
I would personally recommend finding some nice screened 2 pair cable,
(you could even use starquad), and wiring one pair to the tape out and
other to the return in on your mixer and two angled jacks at the 5D
end. |

I've heard lots of bad stuff about the DXA-5D, mostly people
experiencing noise issues from the bit that cancels the AGC. A better
way to go would be to use the Magic Lantern firmware for the 5D, and a
Juiced Link XLR adapter or a better external mixer. |

Sam-
It's not my camera. I would even shoot stills with a Canon, let alone a
movie<g>. I am still trying to find the 4-pin 3.5mm outs for the stupid
thing.

It's not for me, guys! The connection that I am looking for (and found,
BTW) was for the audio monitoring out jack.
