1902: IRENE RYAN, who played a woman at the bar in "Mighty Joe Young",
is born in San Francisco. She is best remembered as Granny on "The
Beverly Hillbillies".

1915: TAIJI TONOYAMA, who played Ushi in "Onibaba" and a farmer in
"Kuroneko", is born in Tokyo.

1934: WILLIS H. O'BRIEN, who did the stop-motion animation on "King
Kong", "Son of Kong", "Mighty Joe Young", and "The Giant Behemoth",
marries Darlyne Prenett.

1939: SHIN KISHIDA, who played Interpol Agent Nanbara in "Godzilla vs
Cosmic Monster" and the vampires in "Lake of Dracula", and "Evil of
Dracula", is born in Tokyo. He also played Shiro Maki on "Operation:
Mystery", handicapped mechanic Ken Sakata in "Return of Ultraman",
Professor Tsuyama on “Silver Mask”, the narrator on “Ultraman Ace”,
Saburo Mizushima on "Fireman", Naoe Bungo in "G.I. Samurai", and
Commander Arashiyama on "Solar Squadron Sunvulcan" and "Solar Squadron
Sunvulcan: The Movie". He was also in "Shogun Assassin" and “Blood
Type: Blue”.

1966: Episode 16 of "The Space Giants", "Battle of the Titans", debuts
on Japanese TV.

1972: Episode 3 of "Thunder Mask", "The Fire-Breathing Devil-Beast",
debuts on Japanese TV.

1973: Episode 16 of "Super Robot: Red Baron", "Iron Face Party
Defector #E16", debuts on Japanese TV.

1974: RUSSELL GAIGE, who had a bit part in "Them!", dies in Los
Angeles.

1977: ERI SAKURAI, who played Jannu/Jeanne/Mahoro on "Blast Dragon
Squadron Abaranger" (or Missy on "Power Rangers Dino Thunder"), is
born in Japan.

1979: KOICHIRO NISHI, who played Ryouga Hakua/Aba Red on "Blast Dragon
Squadron Abaranger", "Blast Dragon Squadron Abaranger vs.
Hurricanger", and "Special Police Squadron Dekaranger vs.
Abaranger" (making a guest appearance on "Power Rangers Dino
Thunder"), is born in Ehime, Japan.

1980: "Kamen Raidaa Suupaa Wan" ("Masked Rider Super One") a.k.a.
"Kamen Rider Super-1" premieres on Japanese TV with Episode 1, "Great
Transformation of the Interplanetary Cyborg".

1981: Episode 35 of "Solar Squadron Sunvulcan", "Esper", debuts on
Japanese TV.

1987: Episode 34 of "Aura Squadron Maskman" debuts on Japanese TV.

1993: Episode 38 of "Investigation Robo: Janperson" debuts on Japanese
TV.

1994: GEORGE BARROWS, who played "Konga", dies in Oxnard, Calif.
Episode 17 of Season 2 of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers", "White
Light: Part 1", debuts on Fox.
Episode 17 of Season 3 of "Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers", "A
Ranger Catastrophe: Part 2", debuts on Fox.

1998: Episode 7 of "Ultraman Gaia", "The Earth Purifier", debuts on
Japanese TV.

2003: "Returner" premieres in the U.S. in New York City and Los
Angeles.
"The Princess Blade" is released in South Korea.

2005: Episode 33 of "Power Rangers S.P.D.", "Badge", debuts on U.S.
TV.

2008: "20th Century Boys: Chapter One" is released in Taiwan.
