I've run various Redhat versions of Linux for several years, but I still
consider myself a newbie ..
I've tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Fedora Core 6 on a new
AMD64 (SiS761 chipset) barebones, and still can't get these annoying little
network issues to go away:
Firefox keeps timing out, consistently but only when going to some web
sites;
Evolution often won't send mail, but always receives;
I can't get the plugins to work in Firefox.
I'm running two of these boxes, hooked to a Lynksys router and a DSL line.
Both boxes have the same problem, and are setup identically, installed with
default answers.
My old setup, FC4 on a Pentium4 using Firefox and Evolution, worked just
fine so I don't know what could be different. I do get a startup error
message from some program called "agpgart" that SiS761 is an unsupported
chipset, but the rest of the startup is error-free.. I haven't recompiled
the kernel yet, but I'm about to that point. I even replaced the ethernet
card to rule out some hardware issues. Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks
for any advice!
