Archived from groups: linux>debian>maint>perl (more info?)

Hi!

If somebody is interested in adopting one of the following packages:

http://packages.qa.debian.org/liba/libapache-sessionx-perl.html
http://packages.qa.debian.org/libd/libdbix-recordset-perl.html
http://packages.qa.debian.org/libe/libembperl-perl.html
http://packages.qa.debian.org/libe/libextutils-xsbuilder-perl.html

Please, proceed or tell me if you will adopt it soon. I will file O: bugs
in a couple of days for the packages that were not adopted.

Thanks!
ana

I just realized this one is co-maintaienr by gunnar. So it is not up to
adoption Smile
gunnar, gus seems to be MIA, so it is maybe a good idea remove him from
maintainers field.

Since all of these are Perl modules, I'd be happy to adopt them under
the pkg-perl group. Is there an version control repository where you
track these, or shall I just inject the source packages as uploaded?

Thank you for offering Smile

True, but even in my wildest dreams I can't imagine that Gunnar wants
to maintain a perl package outside of the Debian perl Group Smile

So I guess moving this package together with the others into our
repo, as offered by Jonathan, and removing gus from Maintainers would
be ok as a first step.

Cheers,
gregor

I realized I forgot to cc gus in my first email, doing it now!

Heh, Gregor is completely right - If I didn't submit it for group
maintenance is that I didn't notice - As I am listed as an uploader
(and I often refer basically to my QA page, which shows it nicely in
blue), I expected to be... as the rest of my comaintained
packages. So, yes, this bugger has received its good share of
neglection Sad

Please note that IIRC Embperl has been orphaned upstream. I use it at
least for one system I developed at home, and would appreciate it not
going away (that's why I became an uploader), but cannot really
recommend it to anybody (as it is TRULY not clean in many regards). It
has a low popcon level (and _very_ low recent usage), so it might be
wise to just let it drown.

I am very ashamed of its current status, as ashamed as I am on my
current Debian work level Sad

Nothing to be ashamed of here gunnar, you were not the primary maintainer, so
it is easy this stuff falls of from your radar.

I've injected all of those packages into the pkg-perl repository. They
all look like they will remain as-is, except there is a new upstream
version of libembperl-perl that I'd like to integrate and upload.
Other than that, everything else looks fine (from the apt-get source
version; let me know if I should integrate changes from a version
control system).

Thank you (and Gunnar and others) for working with us. It's am very
appreciative of responsible maintainers that take the time to orphan
packages/ask for help, rather than waiting for the MIA team to do so
forcibly. Smile
