Archived from groups: comp>os>linux>x (more info?)

I am looking for a window manager that does the following:

- handles 2 monitors with two separate taskbars on each
without having to run 2 instances of the window manager.

- not allow dragging windows between screens

- have the first screen set to :0.0 and second to :0.1

- be able to configure hotkeys to run specific binaries
Eg have F3 run the /home/user1/bin/somebinary

- when launching a window on one monitor do not allow
it to pop up on the other monitor.

I could not get KDE to do the above - I got it to work
with xinerama but it treated the two monitors as one
big display ( there was only 0:0 ). Also there were not
two task bars - only one - although it could expand to both screens.
Also windows launched from one screen would pop up on the first
sometimes or pop with half the window in one monitor or the other.
No window placement feature in KDE was able to keep the windows
on the monitor they were launched. from.

Any help would be appreciated. Can FVWM do the above ?

Thanks.

I believe the whole point of xinerama is to make one
big virtual screen covered by multiple physical
monitors. So, comment out that line from xorg.conf
for a start.
