Hello,
I intend to install debian on a laptop but I only have wireless and cd as
the only media options. I have already
partitioned my hd and I wanted to ask if it is possible to download debian
iso´s to one partition and install from
there. I could only find the netinst cd but this will not work with my
wireless!

Adapt the instructions here for your case:
http://www.bobpeers.com/linux/hard_drive_install
I installed f7 modifying the described fc6 procedure accordingly.

Would you recommend installing FC7 from a live CD or a hard
drive?

Yes. You can install Debian of the hard drive partition; however, you
must take care that that partition is not part of the installed system.
Otherwise, the disk image may be overwritten.
If your laptop will boot of a USB flash drive, you can install Debian off
one of those, too.
Here's a link to the complete installation instructions:
http://www.debian.com/releases/stable/i386/
Now, a question... If you can boot off the CD, why not just install off
the CD? I don't know why you were only able to locate the net install
CD. Here's the link to all of the Debian Mirrors:
http://www.debian.com/CD/http-ftp/
All you'll need is the first 2 CDs for the default GNOME desktop. The
KDE and XFCE desktops, if you prefer either of those instead of GNOME,
each have their own unique first CD.

Many thanks to all. I first saw the 21 CDs in the Debian distribution and
this was really discouraging. I couldn´t
imagine that for ex. the kde cd was an installation disk I could use, or I
could use only the first two gnome cds, now I know!
I finally managed to half-install Ubuntu, because in the middle suddenly it
hang, but then I used the rescue disk of
Fedora and managed to read the dvd ISO of it after installing it on a fat32
partition. Now at least I have a working linux with dual booting and I can
further install debian or whatever.
