Hi-ho,

My X keeps growing.

I know the resident memory size for X includes alot of shared
memory and stuff. It's not the base size that's the problem.

It's that over maybe 4-5 days, the X process ends up with a
a resident process size of 1.2G

top - 07:36:02 up 4 days, 17:02, 4 users, load average: 0.24, 0.47, 0.44
Tasks: 128 total, 1 running, 127 sleeping, 0 stopped, 0 zombie
Cpu(s): 0.2%us, 0.2%sy, 0.0%ni, 99.1%id, 0.3%wa, 0.0%hi, 0.2%si, 0.0%st
Mem: 2059564k total, 2041328k used, 18236k free, 79568k buffers
Swap: 128512k total, 128508k used, 4k free, 131708k cached

28746 root 15 0 1384m 1.2g 2176 S 0 60.7 17:23.20 X

When I restart X-Windows, start my usual apps (firefox, thunderbird, gaim,
couple of aterms) it dropped back to about 40M.

Any suggestions?

cheers,
-kt

Looks like it's KDE!
I'll wager that it's the desktop-background changer.
