The spell check does not work for me
this is my gaim version and flags
[ebuild R ] net-im/gaim-1.5.0 USE="eds gnutls nas nls perl spell
-cjk -debug -krb4 -silc -tcl -tk" 0 kB
I do not see any plugins inside gaim to turn on.
on my old system I had the same version same flags and it worked
actually did do anything to get the spell works
What is the problem
Thanks |

The plugins are separated ebuilds as I have understood by looking at the gaim
ebuild, so the speller should be part of the gaim settings, I also suggest you
check your gtkspell, which is the one that gaim depends on.
Also it could be good to look at your gnome2 settings, I'm not sure how built
into gonome2 the spell checking is, at least for Kopeter you go into the KDE
settings to enable spell checking and not in the Kopeter settings (which I
think had been more logical).

gaim is a gnome2/gtk tool, settings in KDE don't affect gaim, you need to run
settings for gnome2.

I would guess 'gnomecc' or 'gnome-control-center'

What's the problem with Kopete?

Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other "sins"
are invented nonsense. (Hurting yourself is not sinful -- just stupid).

do you have the 'spell' use flag set in your /etc/make.conf? |

What ./configure command is used in building gaim? It'll be
in the emerge output as gaim is being built.
For example, on my system it is:
../configure --prefix=/usr --host=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu --mandir=/usr/share/man
--infodir=/usr/share/info --datadir=/usr/share --sysconfdir=/etc
--localstatedir=/var/lib --disable-debug --enable-perl --enable-gtkspell
--enable-nls --disable-nas --enable-gevolution --disable-krb4 --disable-tcl
--disable-tk --enable-gnutls=no --with-nspr-includes=/usr/include/nspr
--with-nss-includes=/usr/include/nss --with-nspr-libs=/usr/lib64/nspr
--with-nss-libs=/usr/lib64/nss --libdir=/usr/lib64 --build=x86_64-pc-linux-gnu |
