[trying again, previous post went astray]

How can I get a full config file that has all config choices listed, set
for the defaults, to make the config file editable?

Yeah, I know it says not to edit it. But that is becoming the only real
practical way when trying to make sure different configurations for
different architectures and/or versions are matched.

It fails for kernel versions 2.6.0 through 2.6.8.1 on Fedora Core 6.
But these all work OK on Slackware 11.0. I'm guessing a toolchain issue.
