Hello
I try to compile KDE 4 on an etch Debian
I've got this message :
Samba: Sambas libsmbclient is required for the smb-ioslave. A version which
already has smbc_set_context() is required; http://www.samba.org;
I have install of course libsmbclient and libsmbclient-dev.
Does anyboddy can help me ?
Regards
JFD

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Hi Debian KDE users,

I'm wondering what's the interaction between the printer configuration
of KDE and the lp command. Even after I changed the default printer
in Control Center > Peripherals > Printers, an lp command without
the destination specified, e.g.,

$ lp mydoc.ps

sends the job to a different printer. I use CUPS and /usr/bin/lp
comes from the cupsys-client package. I'm using the testing
distribution of Debian.

Regards,
Ryo

Are you sure theere isn't any experimental package source you could use?
But anyway, you could provide some more information, such as the path of the
file or a minimal last lines of the compilation process.

I compiled KDE4 on Debian SID. There are several tutorials on how to do this.
Have a look at:

http://developer.kde.org/build/trunk.html
http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/Unstable_Version

Basically KDE4 looks like KDE3 right now. The Oxygen stuff is not enabled by
default. It is in svn, but you have to check it out and compile it seperately
(I haven't done so yet).

Greetings,
Michael

No I've got KDE4 sources from SVN.
Now it's all right : Two library were missing x11proto-xext-dev and
libxtst-dev
Thanks to Michael Thaler for this link :
http://techbase.kde.org/Getting_Started/Build/Unstable_Version#Troubleshooting_2
I have allready compiled kdelibs, kdepimlibs, kdebase, kdegraphics and
kdemultimedia.
I'm going to see KDE4 !
