How do I deactivate up2date in Rhel 4 ? The reason I want to do this
is, I have openafs installed on this machine and I don't want to
manually install openafs-kmdl everytime when up2date updates my
kernel. If you have a workaround, please do let me know.

Thanks.

I don't know about that release but the least elegant way to stop anything is
to find the file and

chmod -x up2date

Never use a scalpel when a machete will do as well.

Mkkcbe,

Do you want to deactivate up2date or do you want up2date to stop
updating your kernel?

If you do not want up2date to update the kernel:

up2date --configure and add to kernel to the list of package not to update

otherwise

rpm -e up2date-gnome up2date

WARNING: This rpm -e thing may need to destroy some dependencies (I
cannot check this, because I run RHEL 5 at home).

Best regards,
