Archived from groups: comp>os>linux>x (more info?)

I have a PC with integrated graphic (Radeon Xpress 200) and 2 monitors.
With the "ati" and "radeon" xorg drivers I was not able to use them both.
The second monitor on the vga port stayed black.

With the proprietary ATI driver "fglrx" I can use both monitors at the
same time.

My problem is: the mouse cursor is on the second monitor a 64x64 block
with pixel-garbage. It is very hard to impossible to use the mouse
exactly.

On the first monitor everything is ok, I see a normal mouse cursor.

I found then a hint about SWCursor. With

Section "Device"
Identifier "Radeon Xpress 200"
Driver "fglrx"
BusID "PCI:1:5:0"
Option "SWCursor" "on"
EndSection

in my xorg.conf I have a mouse cursor that looks ok on both monitors,

BUT: when scrolling, the mouse cursor now leaves artefacts on the window
behind. I have to refresh the whole X screen to get rid of them.

Any idea, suggestions?

(System is ubuntu 7.04)

This problem has gone with the new
ati-driver-installer-8.38.6-x86.x86_64.run
from
http://ati.amd.com/support/drivers/linux/linux-radeon.html

But 8.38.6 brings a new problem: hibernate does not work any more Sad
The systems goes into hibernate sleep for a few seconds and comes then
back again.
