Archived from groups: linux>debian>maint>kde (more info?)

I'm currently in Debian NM and have been helping with the perl-tk package.

I've come across a bug which only manifests itself on KDE systems (I've
tried it on Gnome and xfce).

So I'm looking for help for two things, firstly is this really a bug? and
secondly is it in perl-tk or in KDE?

The problem is as follows:

The perl-tk program "widget" which is part of the perl-tk package has 3
demonstrations of "Listboxes". The second one "Change widget's color scheme"
displays a list of colours to the user. Double clicking on any colour is
supposed to set the background colour to the selected colour.

This works on other systems but not on KDE.

Can anyone help me find where the problem is please.

regards,

Colin

Double-click in this demo call setPalette which fiddle with the option
database (See Tk::option(3pm)).

>From what I've understood from the doc, the option database is also
managed by xrdb. And from Tk::option doc:

Different window managers (and implementations of them) have
implemented the database differently, but most Xt-based window
managers use the .Xdefaults file or the xrdb utility to manage
user preferences; some use both, and/or implement a more
complex set of site, user and application databases.

So how does KDE handle xrdb ?

Hi,

| From what I've understood from the doc, the option database is also
| managed by xrdb. And from Tk::option doc:

The settings in my ~/.Xdefaults are effective on KDE, although
I don't explicitly use xrdb . That means the KDE system uses my
..Xdefaults at some stage of its startup. I'm not 100% sure if
all my Xdefaults settings are effective. (I mean that some settings
might be overridden during the startup process.)

Cheers,
Ryo
