| I'm trying to convert a primary XP OS on a machine to a Xubuntu Hardy Heron OS completely, meaning no XP at all. Just linux. I have Googled the living hell out of this and came up with nothing useful. Any idea's of what the best way is, to make it what I want it to be?

| It should be as simple as putting the Ubuntu disk in the drive, booting the computer from the CD-ROM drive then allowing Ubuntu to install to the entire disk. The installer will do the reformatting for you.

I did a very similar thing twice in the last year. I popped in the Ubuntu CD, booted from it and wrote over Windows98 and over Windows XP. It went smoothly both times and has been stable and a breeze to use ever since.
I particularly liked using Xubuntu on the older (Windows98) machine, as its resources were more severly limited. 192 MB of RAM, 6 GB of disk and who cares?
Don't forget to set up your swap partition and you should be all set. |

| There are two ways to do this; run the fdisk utility from the Recovery Console, or boot up with a copy of Xubuntu and do a clean install.Good luck. |
