Hi Michael,
a few questions/remarks/suggestions about DDTP:
* GET package_name lang is not documented in your mail guide
* Trying to fetch multiple packages
GET luola-levels popa3d de.UTF-8
results in
ERROR: get
missing number or package name
* Do I get the testing or sid version using GET package lang? How
to change this?
* As many encodings are wrong it would be nice if you could test for
proper encoding. The accept mails (which are wrong encoded as well )
from DDTP seem already to test this (according to the messages in the
the mail) but it does not work properly. I suggest to search (at least
for German) in suspected UTF-8 encoded data files for Ă (utf-8 encoded
umlauts (ä, ü, ...) considered as latin1) and ďż˝ (could please anybody
explain how this results?) and to reject these translations with a
"probably wrong encoding" message? A new flag "force" in the subject could
bypass the test (if these characters are indeed valid).
* Further tests should be implemented based on language specific rules ...

It doesn't work currently. This command is accepted but no translation
is send to me, only guide.txt, log.txt and hot-news.txt. The subject
of the resulting mail from DDTP is wrong: "GET 1 de.UTF-8 noguide".
* Add vi, pt_PT and other missing (but added) languages to guide.txt and
http://ddtp.debian.net/ (picture, ...)

hi all,
on d-i translations (packages, manual, release notes), debconf translations
(71% - 7268 translated messages) Portuguese (from Portugal) is being
translated as pt.po files and not as pt_PT.

you get the last description (normal: sid)

oh, the ddtp should test encoding. If this is not working, this is a
bug...

Is this also true for "GET n lang" requests? It would be nice if no
testing descriptions are sent out (only if explictely requested) to
reduce the need to translate outdated descriptions.
PS: The new APT which supports package translations was today promoted
to testing!

Yes. Does new APT support Translation-* _diff_ files?

yes.
only 'active' descriptions are send to the user.
See http://ddtp.debian.net/ddt.cgi?package=backup-manager as example.

Ah, thanks. I document all these information in
http://www.debian.org/international/l10n/ddtp that's why I want to be
sure.
Another question: I find the diffs against previous translations (if
they exist) which are provided by the DDTP very useful. If only a small
typo was fixed in an English description the old inactive translation
can easily be reused. This way one can impress others (and the
statistics) with many translations in short time
Is there a way to obtain all missing active translations with an
existing inactive translation (without need to iteratate over the web
output)?

it should be possible... But now we don't have it...

good question.
I _estimate_: no
And we don't have Translation-* _diff_ files at this time...

FWIW, the DDTSS does show diffs to previous changes to the current
translation (red for removed/green for added). If there was a previous
translation for the same package it shows what the old one was in a
seperate window.
It's not as integrated as I'd like but I find it works rather well
(especially for noting that the "new" descript is merely a typo fix,
then I can simply resubmit the old translation...
Have a nice day,
