I believe I am a X11 end user. By this I mean that I know how to
configure an xorg.conf or export a display but that's pretty much
it.

Here's my question:

Is there a way to display a single X application on more than one X
server? I'd like to be able to control my mp3 playing application
(rythmbox) on my Ubuntu workstation in the living room and also
control it with my X-Ubuntu workstation in the dining room (speakers
go through the house).

Before I get into either finding or building a plugin that will allow
remote control of this application, I'm curious to see if there's a
simple way to launch an application and view it on 2 different
servers.

Many thanks for your help.

VNC will give you a stateless display you can access from multiple
machines.
