Archived from groups: aus>computers>linux (more info?)

I failed in a recent attempt to post a message to "linux.debian.user" via
my ISP's newsserver.

Instead I received an email telling me that I was not allowed to post to
the list, that my ISP's newsserver should not have accepted messages
posted to that list and inviting me to join the linux-gate mailing list.

So I joined the linux-gate mailing list.

Since my ISP's configuration of the newsgroup is unreliable, I tried
posting via "gmane.linux.debian.user. It failed. Gmane claimed that
there was no such list when I tried to post a message; it cheerfully
displays the messages sent by (authorised ?) posters.

Now what?

Talk to your ISP?

Try alt.os.linux.debian instead?

Problem was flagged. the ISP's answer will doubtless arrive in due course.

Thank you. I will see what that shows next time that I am online (when
this reply will be sent).

However, I would still welcome information from a reader of this NG who
has succeeded in getting answers to messages posted to the
"linux.debian.user" list via a newsserver.

Given that the list gets 100-200 new posts every day and most of the
issues are well beyond my comprehension, I would prefer to "not subscribe"
to the list (and load my mailbox with hundreds of messages that I do not
understand).
