Let's see. You can start with an X/390, that's a 4 processor 64 bit
Xeon set, nice for a development machine, workgroup server, or
prototypes.

You can upgrade to blades, density goes as high as 128 processors per
19 inch rack. These usually connect to shark storage controllers -
some capable of up to a few hundred terabytes of deta.

You can also slap Linux into a P-Series LPAR, great when you also need
AIX and you don't want to have to give up AIX but you don't want to
have the slower bandwidth of the detached Linux machine.

If you already have a Mainframe that isn't too filled to capacity, you
can add Linux for as little as $500 per LPAR. If you don't have your
own mainframe, IBM can host a Linux LPAR for you at a slightly higher
rate. A Z-900 mainframe can provide the equivalent functionality and
performance of several thousand Linux on single-processor Intel
machines.

Linux isn't replacing the others completely, but it is becoming a
full-fledged partner to other production line UNIX systems including
Solaris StarFire, AIX Regatta, and HP_UX superdome systems.

Idiot. Go troll elsewhere

Are you really that stupid that you even can't do some basic research?

IOW, despite your trumpeting of the proliferation of Oracle running on
"High End Linux servers", you're still unable to name even a single model of
what such a "High End Server" would be.

Lacking any further clarification from you, I can only conclude that the
"High End Linux Servers" you're talking are probably really
only midrange x86/x64 boxes.

Get back to me when you see Oracle running under Lunix on something
comparable to an HP Superdome, a Sunfire 15K, or a p5 595.

Are you really that stupid that you think it's up to others to substantiate
your case?

Are you really that stupid that you have to go around calling other people
stupid?

That's stupid.

Is kindergarten school on holiday?

Linux is not a desktop OS for people
whose VCRs are still flashing "12:00".
That eliminates a lot of wintrolls then.

SGI Altix 3000.

It runs Linux and is "bigger" than ANY Sun box.

Lots of proprietary Unices "can run" Lunix, but that doesn't necessarily
mean that it's practical to do so, or that it's done commonly. I'd be
surprised if there's that many instances of Oracle running on Lunix on an
Altix 3000 out there.

Peter Kohlman was claiming that there were "many" examples of Lunix on "High
end" hardware out there. Personally, I think he's just in awe of midrange
x86 HW, and doesn't know the difference.
