Hi everyone,

I have an Australian-made Opentec 'OpenFire' RPC-III rugged P4 ex-military
laptop system which I'd like to run Gentoo Linux on, however when the Gentoo
CD boots it can't start the X-server.

I was wondering if anyone else has managed to use Gentoo on an Openfire RPC
system and what you needed to do in order to get it working properly?

Regards,

Craig.

I suggest you *don't* use the X/GTK/GUI gentoo installer.
Stick with the plain install CD and the wonderful wonderful
installation manual. I've done numerous gentoo installs,
(more than a dozen) - tried the gui CG once, and never again.
Maybe it's better now, but 6 months ago I didn't like it.

IMHO it's harder to use the gui cd than walking through the
install handbook, it's almost like a test script.

cheers,
-kt
