Light, but not bad, I agree. I thought it odd that a CD burning program
(GnomeBaker) has, "no support for the ISO format." Is that true (I've
never used it)? Isn't that a bit like a car without an engine (or is
it reverse gear ?
I enjoyed the part about him having no trouble exporting and importing
Lookout! and Evolution data multiple times with no trouble. I wish
more users were like this guy. I'd enjoy supporting him. 'Sounds
like he doesn't need it.
Good to hear the message's getting through. Thx for the pointer.

LOL...At least he found k3b "supporting" it...I have never used
one of them.

I most liked his statements about the cryptic commands/scripts
you have to hunt for online.

Great article. I have been using Linux (PCLinuxOS) for five days. All the
computers in my home (5) are Windows-based. I am a medical
transcriptionist and my wife and two daughters are now training to become
the same.
So far I am enjoying the experience of experimenting. My family, except
myself, type with the Dvorak layout. I thought that wasn't an option in
PSLOS. But IT IS!
Now, here is the thing... I can not fully migrate to Linux and neither can
my family because of a software problem. That problem is Linux does not
have any TEXT EXPANDER. That is an absolute necessity for any
Medical Transcriptionist. I work for a company that has several thousand
home-based transcriptionists. Everyone of them use a word expander.
How does one carry a petition to have software developed? I use
As-U-Type, others use SpeedType, etc. This is a real need and if anyone
would, please point me to someone or someplace where this might be
discussed.
Thank you. |

If you have the shortcuts in some file use it to fill the autocorrect in
OpenOffice.org.

Takes a text and expand it to a bigger size
It's like you have a shortening for a long word, say you write, 'db' and you
get out the text 'database'. This can be added by the Macro feature in
StarOffice and OpenOffice, of course sed could be used on saved files.

I think the nedit project have a stand alone text-expander called
"expander" that you can strap over any text editor. Gentoo have a
package for it. |
