Quake III, HD video demoed on netbooks with GMA 500 graphics, Moblin Linux
,----[ Quote ]
| Most netbooks released over the past year have
| shipped with Intel Atom N270/N280 processors
| and GMA 950 graphics. But a handful use a
| different chipset designed to provide longer
| battery life and enhanced graphics
| performance. While the Intel Atom Z520/Z530
| processors are noticeably more sluggish than
| their N2xx counterparts, the GMA 500 graphics
| chipset shows some promise, and some netbooks
| with this chipset even include HDMI ports to
| output HD video to an external display.

Linux users: frag your online enemies without installing an application!
,----[ Quote ]
| This afternoon after I got home from work, I
| fragged my online enemies! What makes this
| remarkable is that I use Ubuntu Linux, and as
| everyone know gaming doesn't work on Linux
| (tongue-in-cheek comment there). What is even more
| amazing is that I didn't install an application to
| do this.

Quake Live
,----[ Quote ]
| Also, Quake Live is surprisingly 100% more fun than Farcry 2. Sad
| but true.

Quake Live - Redefining the online gaming
,----[ Quote ]
| Quake Live is great fun. It's a tremendous invention, game
| quality and graphics notwithstanding. What more, it looks
| well, it plays well. You get reasonable graphics, lots of
| fast-paced killing action, for free, inside your browser, on
| any operating system. It's a dream come true!

Quake Live Updated to Support Linux and Mac Users
,----[ Quote ]
| During the QuakeCon 2009 press conference, id President Todd Hollenshead
| announced what many non-Windows computer users had been asking about for
| months. Quake Live, id software's browser based shooter, would be adding
| support for Linux and Macintosh operating system users.

Open source alternative to browser-based shooter Quake Live
,----[ Quote ]
| The developers behind open source shooter Open Arena have released an initial
| test version of the browser-based version, Arena Live. Arena Live aims to
| emulate Quake Live, a free to use, professionally produced version of Quake 3
| Arena from id Software that's financed by advertising. While Quake Live
| currently only runs on Windows-based systems (with Mac OS X and Linux support
| reportedly coming soon), Arena Live runs in Mozilla's Firefox web browser on
| Linux platforms and will probably be ported to other operating systems in the
| future.

Quake Live at 1Ghz, 256Mb
,----[ Quote ]
| That's Crux, by the way. I expected laggy performance and skipping graphics.
| But framerates are exceptionally good, although I didn't find a way to show a
| number on screen. I'm not a huge first-person shooter fan, but it's fun to
| try out.

Shadowgrounds Survivor from Igios is now GOLD !
,----[ Quote ]
| LGP Announced that Shadowgrounds Survivor from Igios is now GOLD. It has gone
| to replication and will be available in around 2-3 weeks. Survivor will be
| available both as a boxed product everywhere, and as a downloadable and
| rentable game from our download partners.

Wow - how (not) exciting. In November 2009 Linux can actually run a game
that was released in December 1999. It's only 10 years later. |

It can run that game since several years. Actually you could run it nearly
from the start. As you could run Quake and Quake II on linux. Nativly,
without Wine
But don't let facts dilute your "arguments", Ezekiel Scott Nudds

He omitted the point about it running on a miniature, cheap computer.

And even then Unreal Tournament spanked its arse.
But on that subject, I recall Jed recently claiming there was "no need"
for people like Carmac to optimise his drivers for different video
cards! This NG is like the land that time forgot at times. |

Repeating a lie doesn't make it any more true.

If you are going to judge Linux based on how easy
it is to get onto a Macintosh. Let's try installing |||
MacOS X on a DELL! / | \ |
