Hello,
this mail is crossposted to two mailing lists. Please reply only to the one
that concerns you (perl or python team).
The collab-maint project gives write access to all DD by default using
ACL (see man setfacl and getfacl).
$ getfacl /svn/collab-maint/
[...]
group:Debian:rwx
[...]
default:group:Debian:rwx
I believe the perl and python team would benefit from using similar ACL
so that any DD who wishes to integrate his packages in the team can do so
without requesting access that we'll grant him anyway. We expect DD to be
educated and to ask before messing up if they're not sure of what
they're doing. In most cases, they'll figure it by themselves because
the available documentation hopefully directed them correctly.
This also let NMUer integrate their NMU in the VCS directly if they so
wish.
As an Alioth admin, I can add those ACL. However I'd like to have your
opinion and agreement first.
Cheers,
PS: If you know other teams that would be interested, feel free to suggest
them and direct them to alioth admins (admin@alioth.debian.org) to get the
ACL added.

i like the idea aswell. I have been thinking about fixing some bugs in packages
the perl team maintains several times in the past already, aswell as moving my
packages over to the SVN repository, just didn't want to ask/wait for commit
access (and, well probably also been too lazy to ask ).

Hi,
sounds good, at least as long people still get in touch with us on the
list somewhat.
Would it be possible that DDs can add themselves to the group? Then we’d
still have a list of members, which is better than a “you can commit but
you don’t have to announce that you care“ scheme.
But I’m not against it...
Greetings,
Joachim

I think that this is a good idea.
If/when that ACP is added, please announce that on d-d-a, including the
recommendation to subscribe to debian-perl DeleteThis @lists.debian.org and/or
pkg-perl-maintainers DeleteThis @lists.alioth.debian.org

Sure. There's no way to enforce it, but we should just recommend it.

This is not currently possible with Gforge. And I doubt someone is
motivated enough to make a patch just for this reason.

Just for the record: I completely agree as well. Thanks!

This warning is still valid.

Both projects agreed and I just added the ACL. It would be great if some
people could update the respective documentation of each project to share
this information.
It has been noted that when a DD gets highly involved in the team, he
should nevertheless be added to the Alioth project. Non-DD who are looking
for sponsors can then better identify them and that way we keep a list of
"core-members".
We'll also publicize this change in debian-devel-announce later (either in
a Bits of Alioth or in a more generic mail, we'll see).
Cheers,

Sorry, but where? I tried to look, but didn't find any change.
Also:
$ ls -al /home/groups/pkg-perl/htdocs
total 108
drwxrwsr-x 3 scm-gforge pkg-perl 4096 2007-08-06 16:31 .
drwxrwsr-x 5 scm-gforge pkg-perl 4096 2007-06-23 11:28 ..
-rw-rw-r-- 1 deepak-guest pkg-perl 2220 2004-06-09 16:00 announcement.txt
-rw-rw-r-- 1 deepak-guest pkg-perl 4941 2004-06-09 16:00 cvs.txt
[...]
-rw-rw-r-- 1 deepak-guest pkg-perl 570 2006-09-26 12:22 TODO
Why are so many files owned by deepak-guest? I'd suggest making the website a
real checkout of file:///svn/pkg-perl/website and not a simple copy so that we
can check easily if the files match with the repository.
Cheers,
