After bit of googley moogley it seems people are trying <subject line>
but having hardware issues. Ubuntu apparently "comes with" all the
drivers (whatever that means!) but wouldn't judicious use of lspci and
compiling a custom kernel be the same thing? The Intel-based Macs use
pci, right? I know, I'm a clueless newb... Razz

Anyway, I'm going to give it a try as I recently got work as an iPhone
app developer and I certainly don't want a Mac that won't boot into
Slackware as the need arises...

I am running Slack 12.2 on a MacPro, if that helps.
The CDROM does not work properly, the sound card is not recognised
(but I guess with a bit of work it could work, I am just too lazy)
I also had to use ReFit to allow booting LILO.
Grub might be a better choice

Excellent! That gives me great hope... Smile

What is the output of `lspci -vv' on your Macbook, if I may ask?

I've had great success with the b43 broadcom driver from
linuxwireless.org, but always with a custom compiled kernel not a
Slack one.

I'm sure I'll be saying the exact same thing when I finish doing what
you had to do... Wink

I have slackware64 13.0 on a macbook but it took ages to get everything
to work. For instance, I got the broadcom drivers from a mandriva
repository, because the ones on the broadcom site didn't work with the
kernel version 13.0 uses; and mandriva had patched ones.

It works great now, but I don't know if I would do it again.
