Archived from groups: alt>os>linux>suse (more info?)

I would like to install SUSE as my second distro so that I can get a
feel for a different version other than Ubuntu. I am looking for a
good, current SUSE Live CD, one that allows me to both boot into SUSE
and install the OS. It would also be desirable if said distro was
able to use a selected partition so that I don't need to worry about
overwriting my current Ubuntu distro.

I went to distrowatch and found from the a download site (well it's
actually a wiki with a link to download) here

http://en.opensuse.org/Released_Version

I am thinking that this:

http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/10.2/iso/dvd/openSUSE-10.2-G...VD-i386

will suit my needs.

I do not know much about Suse so this will be a learning experience
for me. I do know how to burn an ISO so that's not an issue. I just
don't want to spend all afternoon burning ISO and installing only to
find out that it's not what I want.

Thanks for your help.

At this moment openSUSE does not have a downloadable version of
installable and live, as far as I know. This should be coming in 10.3

Well, openSUSE is open, so a wiki is the obvious choice for a website.

There are ways to install without burning:
http://en.opensuse.org/Installation_without_CD

However this will install.

If it's any use, it looks like there is a live DVD for 10.2 according to
the announcement here
