Linux's share of netbooks surging, not sagging, says analyst
<http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9140343/
Linux_s_share_of_netbooks_surging_not_sagging_says_analyst>
"Nearly one-third of the 35 million netbooks on track to ship this year
will come with some variant of the free, open-source operating system,
ABI Research said."
well, now.... almost a third with Linux systems... but the wintrolls say
no one wants netbooks with Linux systems.
So, will the wintrolls attack the article, or just ignore it and hope no
one notices?

Read the article, (p)Rick:
It's horseshit. Almost nobody buys a Linux anything - inside or outside the
US - when they know it runs Linux. Add a Microsoft alternative and game is
over.
"he declined to confirm that with any hard statistics."
Why? What's to hide - except his reputation?
Then it states "As netbooks running the ARM processor become a major factor,
Orr predicted Linux will overtake Windows on netbooks by 2013."
LMAO!! uh huh... does he mean overtake like Linux "overtook" desktop
Windows in the last 5 years? Does he think MS will sit still and cede that
market to a competing product without a fight?
His boss should reprimand him for being a Linux bozo with no grasp of
reality. |

A "variant of the free, open-source operating system"? So they are not
different Linux-based OSs but all one OS?

Looks like the resident kiss arse didn't read the article he's now
shilling. No surprise there.
1) Netbooks are a smaller percentage of PCs.
2) "Orr said Ubuntu is a popular choice on netbooks, though he declined
to confirm that with any hard statistics.". Surprise eh?
3) "As netbooks running the ARM processor become a major factor, Orr
predicted Linux will overtake Windows on netbooks by 2013". Predicted.
4) "In a statement, Microsoft maintained that "over 93% of worldwide
small notebook PCs run Windows today.".
In fact the only figures he backs up is
5) "ABI said its 35 million shipment figure is a reaffirmation of an
earlier forecast that itself was a slight tweak of its January forecast
of 39 million netbook shipments in 2009."
No mention of Linux there. |

Lenovo is dumping the Linux netbooks because they said people keep
returning them because they think they are broken!
How true.
Linux *is* broken.

I didn't see "Hadron" posting a comment at that ComputerWorld URL

So you say... but can never find any examples. Do you want me to find
examples of you running from intrinsic problems with desktop Linux... where
you jump to external issues such as unfair MS tactics, "herd mentality" and
your other mantras? Easy to do!

Post whatever you want. You will just continue to show that almost all of
the "intrinsic problems" you whine about are trivial compared to things
such as Microsoft's anti-competitive tactics, inertia and herd mentality,
and your complete lack of understanding of them.
You also show your ego-centrism by accusing me of using "mantras" while
copy/paste ad nauseum.
So, go ahead, have your last word as your ego requires.
