I am attempting to install Linux but my harddrive is not seen by the
install. I think is because of the chipset which is Ati Radeon Xpress 200p.

Well I have a HP d1000e
which is a AMD64 3200+
memory 1gb
HD sata maxtor 160gb
Graphics card ati x300se

Any ideas?

We need to know which distribution and which version of linux you are
trying to install. Each distribution uses a different way of installing,
unless you do the partitioning and install manually. There are also
certain behaviors unique to each distribution when it comes to automatic
partitioning.

Hello Chamuco,

If the SATA driver is not included in your distribution, you should be
able to install it when you distrib installation starts... (maybe by
pressing a hot key [F2] for Windows for an exemple...)
You should get a message somewhere and sometime to ask you if you want to
install a third party driver handling SCSI card or SATA... you'll have to
be aware and read anything that print on your screen Smile
