Our client provides insight into underwriting, marketing and
purchasing commercial insurance. The company currently serves nearly
350 leading commercial insurers, insurance brokers, risk management
departments of major corporations, and other related organizations.
Their web-based workstation incorporates real-time analytics and
research on over 1.5 million companies and 70 industries. They are
headquartered in New York City, and were established in 1999.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This is a position for Sr. Linux Systems Administrator. The candidate
should have 7+ years experience in managing and supporting mission
critical production and development environments utilizing Debian and
Redhat Linux distributions. The position requires working knowledge of
commodity hardware platforms and software applications.
Key responsibilities include administration of the client's mission
critical network and systems. This includes identification and
resolution of network, hardware and software technical problems/
malfunctions for all the client's mission services consisting of
production, development and integration. These responsibilities
require 24x7 coverage and response to systems alerts during "on-call"
rotation. In addition, this position will serve as the primary
escalation point of contact for resolution of hosted production
system's service problems / issues. On a daily basis, the role will
monitor and respond to systems failures as well as manage scheduled
systems processes. Systems analysis will be performed to proactively
predict and detect systems errors in order to ensure maximum uptime
and service quality. This position would also interface with the
onsite engineers at the hosted facility.
You will also work closely with onshore and offshore developers and
business units to resolve problems and to ensure the uptime and
availability of development and integration environments to support
"follow-the-sun" 24-hour software development and testing.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Great attitude and a good team player
5 to 7+ years of current Linux (Debian and Redhat) Systems
Administration experience including 2+ years in a 24/7/365 environment
including server builds, package installs (apt-get, RPM), security,
DNS, LDAP, NFS, RAID setup, hardware and network setup and
maintenance.
Experience with open systems environment configurations using Apache,
JBOSS cluster, X server, Java and PHP required.
2+ years setting up and working with HA cluster environments
consisting of Emc SAN and Oracle
Experience with open source email systems such as Cyrus and Postfix
Candidate MUST be open to discussing and documenting technical issues,
resolution and problem avoidance in the future
Shell scripting experience required
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience
developing standard system configurations and documentation.
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills conducive to
team development. Self-starter with the ability to lead teams on
specific projects.
Ability to perform needs assessments and develops proposals.
This is a position for Sr. Linux Systems Administrator. The candidate

SAN, NAS, Networking Routing-Switching, Firewalls, Windows OS and

the UNIX infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· The primary position requires dedication to ongoing support and
providing very high uptime of the systems. Planning maintenance-
windows for patching feed and care of systems.
· Installing, configuring, managing/administering Unix and Linux
systems independently.
· Very good troubleshooting and design skills.
· Ability to work independently.
· The job requires off-hour availability and access to systems to
respond to planned and/or unplanned maintenance including pushing new
releases to production.
· The job requires very close interaction with other business
organization within the company to provide IT solutions.
· Work with Application team and other teams within and outside IT.
· The job requires a very close relationship with primary vendors to
leverage their support and solutions.
· Help develop IT processes and standards and comply with change
management procedures.
