Fedora 3-what do these items mean?

Greetings!

I am trying to install Fedoracore3 in a new laptop computer. I am using
text mode. I have come to the following part but then the computer
stops:
Debug
Then I get the message:
USR/lib/anaconda/fsset.py(2066)setup device()
-raise system error Pvcreate failed for % s" % volume
(Pdb)

Can anyone help me to figure this out. I don't know what it means.

You really want to use a more recent distro, try Fedora Core 5 on
the system and see if this works better. You wouldn't try
installing windows 98 on the new box, wouldn't you?

I am guessing its some kind of hardward incompatibility. What stage did
this error occur? Did you get a chance to select any parameters for
installation? The next time you reboot the machine to install FC3, try
typing "linux noprobe" (check its options by pressing F2 or something -
it should say when you install FC3). Did you follow these thread?

See what GUI does.

You could try FC4/5 as Mike suggested. Personally, I would not leave
FC3 alone if I had the time to debug the problem. Text mode is fine,
but I prefer GUI installation on a new system just to see how sharp the
graphics are.
