| I just bought Fedora 6.
Can it be upgraded over the web, or does it require a full reinstall?

I don't know why you bought Fedora 6, it is FREE! But you can download
the installation files from any of the mirrors and use your preferred
method to upgrade or do a fresh install. There's not much difference in
the time requirements either way, and most would say do a full install
rather than upgrade.

The iso is to burn on a DVD.
I have a CD burner, but not a DVD burner.
Guess I'm out of luck. |

A DVD burner costs as little as $28, treat yourself to one.

It is a special compact machine and will not accept a normal writer/reader.
Can you install Debian from an external usb DVD reader/writer?

Check your BIOS to see if you can set it to boot from an external device. |

Pete, I run Fedora 7 on several machines that have no DVD drive. It's a
bit more trouble for you, but you can download the DVD iso, burn it to a
DVD on another machine that has a drive, then copy the files to either a
web server or ftp server (both of which your old FC6 machine should
have) so you can do a network install. Then download the 'Minimal Boot
CD', boot from that and follow the instructions. Yeah, it's a pain to
set up the servers from scratch if you haven't done it before, so this
may be more trouble than it's worth, but it will get you Fedora 7
without having to buy a DVD drive.
