When I was interested in sports car and formula racing, I saw a cartoon in a
sports car magazine of a Formula V race car with the name of the sponsor on
the side, "No Blow Radiator Hose Company." One guy was saying to the other,
"That guy is a real salesman" because Formula V cars must be powered with
the engine of the original VW Beatle which is air cooled.

This spam reminds me of that. I have been running Linux since RHLinux 5.0
and have never defragged it. IIRC, the defrag program, which has never come
with a distribution I have used, is not guaranteed to work, since no one
bothers to maintain it. Were I going to try it, I would just copy the file
system to tape, run mkfs on it, and then restore it from tape. But I have
not done that since the early days of the UNIX operating system.

Indeed, on GNU/Linux file systems there is no such a thing as
"fragmentation", but of course this Windummy has no clue Smile

There *is* such a thing as fragmentation on, say, ext2fs. What there
isn't is a major performance hit due to fragmentation. See e.g.
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:EXT2_Fragmentation .

There may be extremely rare cases where defragmentation of a linux
filesystem is needed. A spammer's Windows tools are likely the wrong
tool for such a task.

Of course, you could all forbear from helping these spammers out of
people's filters...

Why would I be defragging? This is the 21st century, and modern file
systems do not require defragmentation.

Why do you repost the spam in its entirety? This is, as you say, the 21st
century, and people are _usually_ smarter than that.
