Hello All
Every time I edit /boot/grub/grub.cfg it reverts to the old file.
I would like to change the sequence of listed OSs is this possible?
Web searches require me to append an OS by going to etc/grub.d folder
Any suggestions welcome

grub1 or grub 2?
(just asking, don't know problem)
err, don't you have to run an update program after doing that?

I don't have grub2 here, but the last time I opened a
/boot/grub/grub.cfg it said at the top something like "this file is
generated, if you want to change something do in $here and $there".
Following this advice might help Smile

Try running this after you edit it.
/usr/sbin/update-grub2

I vaguely remember having the same problem in the past.
