Archived from groups: linux>debian>bugs>dist (more info?)

Package: wine-unstable
Version: 1.1.31-1
Severity: normal

I tried to install sketchup 7.1. It runs the installer but that then
says 'your platform is not supported' and quits.

Here is the stout info:
wine /tmp/sketchup.exe
fixme:reg:GetNativeSystemInfo (0x33f3ac) using GetSystemInfo()
fixme:advapi:LookupAccountNameW (null) L"wookey" (nil) 0x33ef08 (nil) 0x33ef0c 0x33ef00 - stub
fixme:advapi:LookupAccountNameW (null) L"wookey" 0x182f58 0x33ef08 0x1e1918 0x33ef0c 0x33ef00 - stub
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"LaunchConditions" returned 1603

Running it under wine-debug produced the same output.

I have no idea which aspect of my system is not supported - this may
not be a wine bug as such, but I'm not sure where else to report this
issue.

Running winecfg allows you to choose which windows platform to emulate.
Installing sketchup in a fresh wineprefix works for me with the default
(Windows XP), though. I'm not really sure what could be wrong for you.

Perhaps it's the same problem as this?

The problem was that the default emulated version of windows was
'Windows 2000'. Changing that to XP, does indeed allow the installer
to complete.

I assume that's a default setting? Perhaps bumping it up from 2000 to
XP would be better for all on balance (I don't know how many things
that would break)? It is possible that it's not the default and I have
an old setting lying about from an older wine installation - this
machine is a couple of years old. I suppose installing wine-unstable
would not update such a setting automatically?

Probably. I've commented there too.

XP has been the default since Wine 1.1.16, as far as I can tell.

No, if you've changed a setting, then it's considered a user override,
and saved in the registry as such. An upgrade won't remove that
override. Without an override, though, the new default probably would
have taken effect after the upgrade. I think most of these overrides
would be stored in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine, if you prefer to
remove them.
