Package: maint-guide
Version: 1.2.14
Severity: normal

Looking at:

http://www.debian.org/doc/maint-guide/ch-dreq.en.html#s-rules

The rules file it displays as an example no longer matches the output
from dh_make, which has been significantly simplified. (At least, I
think this is the case. The changelog mentions some simplification,
and when I run it on a familiar source tree, I get two non-comment
lines.)

This makes much of that maint-guide section redundant, but still, the dh(1)
syntax helps overall readability. I think we should adjust to this by
explaining the new syntax and overrides. Osamu, do you agree?

Hmmm... Clearly, I have not packaged new packages recently nor checked
debhelper changelog to realize dh(1).

I thought it is one of CDBS which hides too much for novice to learn how
system works.

I was wrong.

Anyway, maint-guide needs good rewrite by someone with time, skill and
energy to do it. I do not think I can do it now.

Osamu

It just hides it by default, but if we just tell the novice to use
DH_VERBOSE=1, which is good for its educational value Smile it looks pretty
much the same. I'll see if I can find some time to update it.
