Hi,

I've read about plans on a 'semi-official' GNOME 2.16 backport for etch.
What's the status here? I have some spare time during the next two weeks
and thought about creating a GNOME 2.16 backport for etch during that
time.

You're welcome to use our an etch-backport in our SVN if that helps
you; I've started tagging the 2.16 modules (except a11y stuff) that
I've switched to 2.18 to keep a ref to the 2.16 version.

A first version of the GNOME 2.16 backport is available here:
http://people.debian.org/~nobse/etch/gnome2.16/

I tested it on my primary workstation at home, and it works fine, expect
that I needed to put libvte-common and libeel2-data on hold.
