Hello,
Can anyone tell me what code this comes from? Is there a code translation to put this into conventional numbers like 0-9?
Thanks |

Hello,
Knowing more about the context of this "code" may help in determining how to crack it.
For example, how do you know it is numbers and not letters?
Also, are you certain there are no spelling or transition errors in the copy you posted?

thanks for getting back to me, here is the puzzle pasted from source
thirty five degrees ssczcccssccs szzzccsczzccccc cszccszsscccszc zcszsssczzcc zcsccsszscss zcszsssczzcc. one zero six degrees zcsccscssszcssz szczsccsszcczcc cszccszsscccszc zcszsssczzcc szczsccsszcczcc ccsccczcc.
the thirty five degrees corresponds to a latitude it is followed by the code until it reaches one zero six degrees which is the longitude.
after the 35 deg, there will need to be 5numbers, the first being a zero and the second being most likely a 8 but could be 7 or .
after the 106 deg, there will be five numbers the first most likey being 4 and the second being 2 but possibly 1 or 3.
There are six groups of code after the "degrees" yet only 5 numbers are needed. I have seen codes that translate directly to digits and some that translate to words. Words seem more likely in this case but of course I am not sure. There were a few messages on this forum that appeared to use this type of code and it seemed a logical place for me to start looking.
Thanks |

Since only three symbols/letters are used c s and z, it is not logical that these would be words. It would be extremely hard to find words of 12 and 15 characters that only use three letters of the alphabet.
As far as numbers, the choice of the letters c s and z also seems illogical. Binary numbers use two symbols 0 and 1 , decimals use 10 symbols 0 through 9, hexadecimal uses 16 symbols the 0 through 9 as well as 6 additional symbols the letters A through F.
If the numbers were in base three (using three symbols) the symbols would be 0, 1 and 2. All numbers would then be represented by this combination.
Decimal Number followed by base 3 representation
0=0
1=1
2=2
3=10
4=11
5=12
6=20
7=21
8=22
9=100
10=101
11=102
12=110
13=111
14=112
15=120
16=121
17=122
18=200
and so on
What is your source? What program or app appears to generate this sequence?
Also is the 35 degrees of latitude north or south? Likewise is the 106 degrees of longitude east or west? It may help if we can pinpoint a location.
I located the 4 places with these coordinates:
35N 106W is Moriarity, New Mexico (closest town I could find)
35N 106W is Pingliang, China (again if I had a detailed map, I could probably get the exact town)
35S 106E is in the Indian Ocean
35S 106W is in the Pacific Ocean |

I love puzzles so I'm going to take a wild stab at this. These coordinates are either part of a game or the OP needs help with a school project or he is trying to crack some government secret code.
Although we don't have the North, South, East or West parts of the coordinates I'll bet that the place he is looking for is somewhere between Moriarty, Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Why 35N106W and not one of the other three? The OP's screen name, A-B-Q-Gregg.
So how about letting us into the loop Gregg. What is this for and what are we trying to locate? |

Hello,
I was able to figure this out having my lunch yesterday. Coordinates are usally written like 35 degree XX.XXX, 106 degree xx.xxx. Since they had given th e 35 degrees, all I had to do to complete the rest was find xx Point xxx. The same letter pattern appeared in the same place on both sides of the coordinate starter (106 degrees. So, cszccszsscccszc is the same as point. Point has 5 letters and the sequence has 15 letters. It was too coincidental that all sequences were divisible by three so I assumed Trigraphs were being use. So csz is p, and so on. This gave me five of the letters. Determining the rest were easy, simple cryptogram stufff. I still have not found a website that will allow you to enter plaintext and output cryptic text and vice versa. This message was short so the decryption only too about 15 minutes by hand. I would hate to do this on a text several pages long
Thanks for the help. |

Must be, or something like that. The code translates to 35N07.545 106W43.531 which is 35.12575°, -106.7255167° or 35° 7' 32.70", -106° 43' 31.86" It's near a culvert at Petroglyph National Monument outside Albuquerque. |

heheh
It definitely sounds like it is geocaching.
For future reference- on Purple Hell , there are some tools there that may help in some cracking of the codes.
Its been kind of dormant so there aren't any new tools in the last year or so- gonna have to bug the owner about that lol (no not me). I know that a lot of geocaching and other ARG players have accessed PH quite often to use the tools there. Sometimes people post in the forum as well asking for help related to Geocache puzzles.
