Your best bet would be a wireless router. This will give you the wired setup you already have, plus the wireless links that you want. A router also provides a "hardware" Firewall for better protection for your system. Just be sure that you change the wireless router's log-in to prevent outside access to your system. Once you go "wireless", you have to prevent "outside attack"!

Hello,

If you already have a residential gateway (router) installed on your network, then you might want to consider adding a wireless access point (WAP) to it in order to provide wireless service around your residence.

Alternatively, as Micker377 noted, you can replace your existing residential gateway with a model that provides wireless access.

Your Internet provider may be able to recommend a device that works best with their modem equipment.

4bigbob,

Being in 'the business' I install at least one wireless router a month.
I learned a long time ago to NOT skimp on quality when installing new hardware for my customers.

This is the ONLY router I will install.
It's the "LinkSys Wireless-G Broadband Router".
It has four hard wired ports on it plus full wireless capability. You can usually find them on sale someplace for about $49.
I think the full retail price is ~$69.

Cheers Mate!

I second that. WRT54G
Mine has worked for 6 computers and a printer since July 2004.
When I had trouble setting it up the first time because networks was above my pay grade and I was running 98SE, ME and 2K computers, I got support. She read through a script BUT it is a well designed script because eventually one of the items solved my problem. I haven't had to call back again.
