If your using Windows 7, here is a great hack.
Create a new folder and name it:
GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}
And there you have it. God Mode. I’ve already tried it on my PC, and it worked!
If you go to personalization, there are means to change themes & colors.
Hope this helps.[/code] |

Changing the window color does not change the background color. To change the background color right click on the desktop, click Personalize, at the bottom click Desktop Background, in the dropdown box select Solid Color and choose the color you want.

I don't know how to change the arrows but here are instructions on how to remove them. Shortcut Arrow - Remove or Restore
The reason you can't find TweakUI for Windows7 is because it doesn't exist. The last OS that Microsoft made that for was XP. Two alternatives: Tune-Up Utilities and Ultimate Windows Tweaker

When you say stupid shortcuts do you mean stupid shortcuts to files or stupid shortcuts to programs or stupid shortcuts to folders? And does this happen with every stupid shortcut or just one? You mention "button on the browser." Is the stupid shortcut to Internet Explorer or Firefox or am I misinterpreting your use of the term "browser?"

*IF* W7 follows the same "pattern" as windows pretty much has since 95 (just moved the controls to where no-one can find them- if what you are wanting to control is still there at all) then the WHITE problem you are having is a "FOLDERS THEME" (found under display properties in XP) setting & the max for the shortcuts is set IN the shortcuts properties.
Since I don't have W7 I can't verify this or tell you where to find it but hope it points you in the right direction or maybe someone W/ W7 can.
As a note: if you CAN"T find a solution & you DO have SOME control, set the colors so they aren't so contrasting & the white won't be so strong. (White in black WILL make the white POP - & be harsh) |

Hello,
- To change the background wallpaper on your desktop, right-click on any empty part of the Desktop, select Personalization from the popup context menu and in the Personalization window select the link named Desktop Background at the bottom of the window.
- Here is the registry key to change the shortcut icon from the current one
REGEDIT
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons]
"29"="%SystemRoot%\\system32\\shell32.dll,29"
You can try copying this into Notepad, saving it as a file named "SHORTCUTICON.REG" (being sure to include the quotation marks around the filename when you type it in) then double-clicking on the saved file when finished to merge the new registry entry and rebooting for it take take effect. I have read that %SystemRoot%\\system32\\imageres.dll,-121 also works well for an icon. You can also try running TweakUI from Windows XP as an administrator in Compatibility Mode, too.
- Try re-sizing the window you have just opened via a shortcut to a size and location you like, then holding down the Ctrl key and clicking on the window's [X] widget in the upper right corner to close it. The next time you open the window via that shortcut, it should appear in the previously-saved location.

okay i got a tweaking program and it did not do much in win7 it did some things i always do in the computers so that was a good thing.
but it does not set the background colors or icons settings.
here is what i found out sofar.
windows 7 uses a theme file for the background images and the sounds, that is different then xp pro or vista themes. but they will work just won't use all the stuff this one has.
that is fine, i can make theme.mskn files but it does not seem to use that format.? so how can i get the theme engine.exe file that makes the themes for windows 7.
as it seems to be the only way to change that white color that shows up when viewing files in a folder.
also on the icons' there is the way you said with the control button and close. it works to keep the windows loading in full screen.
now for the new trouble with the icons i found.
windows xp and windows vista uses icons made in 128 x 128 pixels
so i put the folder of all my icons i made the last three years in to the windows 7 computer's program files folder.
set the icons to the shortcuts i wanted.
then i drug an icon to the dock bar. the icon for the shortcut suddenly went to a 16 x 16 size but showed a 48 x 48 or larger square for the location of it.
the other icons in the dock are the full size of the square only my custom ones are not? what the is up with that. ?
i noticed they don't get any bigger then 32 x 32 pixels when i view the folders in extra large icons. they never get large like the ones from the windows files do? even using the appearence setting to make the icon's 72 pixels does not work. can some one tell me what is up with that?
thanks |

This is how to set the WINDOW COLOR in XP - it SHOULD be close in all other M$ OS's, as well. If you have XP you can run, check it out there FIRST so you can see what it is all about. Then you SHOULD be able to find it in W7.
control panel > display > appearance > advance > click the dropdown arrow on ITEM - then scroll down to WINDOW - there is a color chooser box to the right. - click on it & choose your color.
BTW: I do believe that ALL the controls you are looking for are here as well... but be careful as you can get to the point of really messing things up with little to no way out. - (been there & did that with 95 [or was it 98])

Hey CowBoy as far as the shortcuts just right click the icon and select properties and from there you can pick how each is opened (normal window, maximized etc.)
Good Luck
P. S. Win. 7 is already pretty good don't wast too much time reinventing the wheel remember its 7 not XP.... |

thanks for the help but its not the right help.
those have already been done, and do not work.
closing the the window in full screen while holding the contorl key down is the only thing that will make the icon's open the windows in full screen.
and only doing that session after a reboot they go back to the small window.
the color is not the same as xp or vista. sure that panel is there to use and is hard to find in windows 7. but using it will not change the colors of the theme. it only changes on the display options panel not on the desktop. there is as said what seems to be a theme skin being used to make the theme. in that there is a color picked for use as the desktop when viewing the files inside of the folder.
it is that dang color that won't change.
i got the window color on the display panel to change but the dark color is showing very pale and lets the white through it. turned off the transparent option and it still won't change the color.
which signals to me that it is a skin file being used. other wise the color would have changed from that d..m'ed white.
as for reinveting things. i'll reinvet that programmers looks if i find out who he is that made this part of the theme unchangeable.
