On this forum and one or two others I get "this webpage cannot be displayed" in the box to the right and sometimes at the bottom where an add should be displayed. It doesn't sound like a big deal but when I hit the back button the missing add tries to refresh or something and nothing happens. I end up having to hit the back button 2 or 3 times to go back to the previous page. Ads by Google seems to be the one of the MIA adds. It shows up OK when I first open up the forum but if I hit say "General" it's missing on the next window that opens up. It does it on both PC's I have here at home. On this PC I have scanned for spy ware and viruses and found none. I have also run winsockxpfix. I swapped routers and reset my cable modem with no effect. I have tried my ISP's DNS servers and OpenDNS servers with no change. I'm using IE7 on both PCs and would rather not switch browsers so please don't suggest switching to firefox etc, I would like to fix what I have.

I sometimes get the same, only on certain pages of the forum. I just don't worry about it. And if I want to go back, I don't hit the back button, I just immediately click on the page I want to go back to (saves waiting time Wink ).
It may be something that's wrong in the coding of the website, that the link is wrong or something. I get it on every computer I use too. It shouldn't be the connection.
I can't offer a solution, unfortunately..

Hello,

Are you using any security software on your computer which affects your network connection?

I'm using AVG free for Anti-virus and don't run a software firewall. I let my router do firewall duty. I have the same problem on both of the PC's I have here at home. I believe I have this problem on 1 or 2 other forums I go to. I'm going to do some checking latter on today to see which forums are affected. So far I don't have this problem on other web sites only 2 or 3 of the forums I go to. I come here every day but only hit the other forum(s) maybe once or twice a week. I believe the ones that are giving me the problems are running the same forum software.

EDIT: While I was typing the above all the adds were there. When I hit the submit button I heard several clicks and all the adds were MIA when the page refreshed to show my post. Hit the edit button to type this and all the adds are back. Question

I lied, looks like this is the only site that gives me this problem. Lockergnome seems to be unique in that it is the only one (among the forums I go too) to display 4 large banner type adds. I am not running any software to block adds but I am now considering this option.

If you wish to keep using IE7, I suggest trying AdMuncher. (It works with IE, Opera and FF).
I bought it for 3 computers and it is well worth the money. I see about a 1" column on the right with two boxes saying munched. I see a small munched at the top and a small munched at the bottom. I have no problem with pages failing to load or reload. The pages will load a lot quicker for you also.
http://www.admuncher.com/
free 30 day trial so you can see if you think it is worth the money.
I download a new database of munched ads about once a month. I'm not sure how often they release the new database.

THanks for that tip! AdMuncher is working really great for me! Especially because we have a rather slow connection, it helps a lot.
