So I randomly got a ton of pop ups.. restarted the computer and then it kept telling me I was offline and to access the page, I needed to be online. All while I wasn't even trying to go to any page. (I have dialup, as well)

Thought the issue was solved.. but it was doing it, yet again

my whole screen goes black ..it thinks a whole bunch, pops up a random window.. and when I get offline, it will constantly try to connect and IE pops up a box saying the page i'm trying to see isnt available offline

I cant even do a panda scan because my computer shuts that window at some point and the screen goes totally black except for the desktop background or immediate background im looking at

someone please help

--

Ok, I've been doing some online scans and downloaded some stuff to help get rid of this issue. I downloaded the AVG anti-spyware thing and that found some stuff, removed that.. no more popups is the good thing but I still have attack of the black screen at times. its like all i can see is my backgorund, all my programs are gone and then they all reappear.. its really weird.

Here's the new HJT scan too.. whats with all that .dbt mess?

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad.

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode (if you don't know how, go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=61 ). Make sure to close any internet browsers that may still be open.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IESet] IExplorer.dll .dbt
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [IESet] IExplorer.dll .dbt
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IESet] IExplorer.dll .dbt
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [IESet] IExplorer.dll .dbt (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [IESet] IExplorer.dll .dbt (User 'Default user')

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

IExplorer.dll .dbt

Restart the computer.

Download Deckard's System Scanner at http://deckard.geekstogo.com/dss.exe to your desktop.

- Close all applications and windows.
- Double-click on DSS.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
- The scan may take a minute. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - Main.txt and Extra.txt

Post the main.txt and extra.txt from the C:\Deckard\System Scanner folder into your next reply.

Post a new HijackThis log here also.

Everything seems to be better now. I did a lot of the things on your page that you suggested and I know that took care of a lot of things! Only strange thing I have noticed, is when I launch IE by its self (I have aol) it doesn't seem to have a bottom. Basically, I can't see the little status bar that's usually in the bottom right hand corner. Not a huge issue but weird, where did it go? lol I do seem to still get the occasional popup but a lot better than before.

Also, I installed the dss program to my desktop.. ran it and once it gets to clearing out my temp files, it says it encoutners an erroe and needs to close. I tried it twice to be sure, *scratches head*

Anyway, here is the new HJT file:

Hi, sorry for the huge delay. I haven't been to this forum for a while...

Go to http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.
