Something strange is happening with one my client's previous websites. A search in Google reveals the site in the second spot. OK, all good. The URL seems correct, however if you click the link you get taken to a completely separate blog, obviously a link/ad generator.

The URL still seems correct in the browser, and even if you click the 'go' button again, it does go to the correct website. It's only clicking the link through Google that takes you to this separate site.

Any ideas on how this would be done and how to fix it?

Many thanks

Posting exactly what you are talking about would help. As it would be pure speculation without more info.

SORRY. Sad

Well the site in question is nickfaldo.com. If you go directly to it you'll get to the correct website, but if you search for 'nick faldo' in Google and click the first or second results, it'll take you to the wrong site...

It looks to me that the www.nickfaldo.com is going to a different location than that of nickfaldo.com. I would check with the domain registration.

OK - I THINK I see what you are talking about.

I entered www.nickfaldo.com into my address bar & got one thing.
Then I entered nickfaldo.com into it & got another but it takes me to the same IP address.

The WWW convention is the correct convention & should take you to the correct PAGE. The other is a totally wrong convention.

Since web servers can have more than one "web page" or site associated with them, my hunch is that someone tried to make one page with the wrong convention then made one with the right one. Thus depending on which you use will take you to that page. So, you need to check with whomever is making the site pages & have them check.

Even if my hunch is wrong, it may lead you to the correct answer. - hope this helps
