the sims 2 pets installation problem

I have just reinstalled the sims 2 on my new computer. I have tried to install the sims 2 pets on my computer. I tried to install it on my old computer (Windows XP) but after installing about 60% it asks to insert disc 2. I hit ok after putting in the disc and it still says insert disc 2. I am having the same problem with my new computer (Windows Vista). I copied the files from the discs to try to install that way but I had the same problem. I have already exchanged my cds at the store i bought them from but still had the same problem. im not sure what i need to do to finally get it working.

Hello dleopard and welcome to Lockergnome!

Try changing the transfer mode of the CD/DVD drive to PIO only mode (check the SIMS 2 FAQ sticky thread for instructions).

i changed to "PIO mode 4" but it still didnt work for me. is there anything else i can try?

Trying another drive and/or updating the firmware of the drive (firmware updates are available from the drive manufacturer).

i couldnt find updates for my drive. i just bought the computer a few weeks ago. you know any good places to sell games? the store i got it from doesnt want to give me my money back so i either need to fight with them or get money back from somewhere.

Ebay or another auction site.

Firmware updates can be found on the PC manufacturers website as well.

You could also try installing it in safe mode.

I have the same problem with sims 2 pets installation. The problem is unrelated to the disk drive, since it occurs even when files are transferred to the hard disk (after 60% the installer still asks you to install disk 2 !). I want to know the answer to this problem too. One speculation: could Japanese on the computer cause this ? Path names on Japanese-enabled systems have the slash replaced with the yen sign. Some problem there ?

I have had the same problem. Every Sims2 Pets at my local Wal Mart has this corrupt verson of the game. It seems that they made a software error. The Disk 2 that does not work is acctually another small expantion pack (for clothes, wall paper, nothing big like weather.) If you intall the second CD first, you will get a free version of that expantion pack (hehehe); but because you cannot return electronics to Wal Mart, i had to exchange it for something of equal or lesser value (Sims2 Seasons). You would have to go somewhere else to get the Pets expantion pack, or you can pay the $12.99 fee that Electronic Arts charges for you to send them their mistake!! i choose not to...

Try installing it in safe mode. [[Press F8 while your computer is starting up]]
I had that problem, and it installed just fine that way, the only problem is for some reason on my computer it wouldn't let me run it. It might be different on yours. ^-^

i recently got sims 2 pets and i tried to install it,
but when it said to insert SIMS 2 CD 4 i did this and it loaded for awhile and then it kept asking for it...
do you no why and how to get it to install?
