Hello,

What brand and model of monitor are you using with your computer running Microsoft Windows XP?

Hello,

It appears that there is a firmware update here on SONY's web site for the Bravia KDL-40Z4100 model television, but I did not see one for the KDL-40Z4500. In any case, you would not want to install the the firmware update for a different model, as this would likely result in a non-functional TV.

Just to verify, your nVidia GeForce 8800GTS is set to display at 1920x1080, correct?

Hello,

I would suggest that you first try increasing the DPI scaling on the display to make all items larger. Here's how to do this, step-by-step:

  1. Open the Display Properties (filename: DESK.CPL) Control Panel applet.
  2. Go to the Settings tab and click on the Advanced button. The Properties window for the monitor and the display adapter will appear.
  3. Go to the General tab and in the Font Size: section, change the value to Large Fonts and apply the changes.
You may need to reboot for the changes to take effect. All of the objects on the desktop such as text and icons should now be larger--they will still be sharp, though, because you have just told Microsoft Windows XP to draw them at a larger size and not decrease the resolution of the screen.

If everything is still too small, or needs to be larger, try going back into the Font Size: section, choose the Custom option, and try a different value.
