Wouldn't it be great if I could put links up on the top toolbar - what a waste of space after the Help. After all the idea is to have a big screen (eg F11).
If I put a link on the links toolbar, I really need to see them, which means a 4th line (toolbar)

Any ideas - reg hack or something?

(PS .... yes I know about Customizing the toolbars - thanks)

1 title bar
2 menu bar
3 buttons and url,
4 home bookmarks and links
5 Tabs if you are using them

can also get some small skins the make buttons smaller though not many skins for the 1.3 branch yet

You know you can drag and drop the toolbars, right?

Thank you. Yes, it's all on the top line. You can move the toolbars so they're scrunched together, leaving space for the 'Links' toolbar.

F6 will highlight the Address/URL window; type lockergnome, then hit Ctrl+Enter and the rest gets filled in to read
http://www.lockergnome.com/

I think the 'Ctrl+Enter' thing only works with 'dot com' URLs

There's a great utility called ThrobOff that gets rid of the spinning globe Bill insisted on putting in IE to take up real estate the End User could use, but there's more than one way to skin a catfish, or so they say.

Sure hope you get your browser fit to your liking Wink

Why don't you just hit "F11" and view your page Full Screen? Doing this, I went from the top pic on my screen to the bottom one.

If you want to look up something, you don't need your address bar at all. Type Control+L and a box pops up for you to lookup another URL.

Great 'Ctrl+L' tip, Coffeeswirls - thanks Smile

I vaguely recall the steps to get a slick looking picture in the toolbar, so would you be so kind as to remind me? Sure would appreciate it!Wink

I downloaded IEMate to get that skin on there. You can also change the throbber there, I just haven't gotten around to it.

I have a few other tips for IE at my site:
http://www.coffeeswirls.com/techietips/explorer.html

Due to my frames setup, it doesn't look great with just that frame showing, I'll get SSI this winter, provided it's not too hard to learn.

Looks good! Now you just need a more personal pic for the skin.

I should mention that you will want to use a small pic for the throbber if you change that. I did change mine once, but the pic I chose was 2-3 times the size of the toolbar area. For some reason, I assumed the image would be resized to match the throbber area and it isn't. My toolbars got huge until i undid the change.

Likewise, I resized the pic I used before adding to my toolbar. It's a scan of a design my wife drew one day. She wants it tattooed to my arm, but I'm a wimp around needles.

Thanks... I'll work on the personalization. Appreciate the resizing tip!

I've used ThrobOff to remove the throbber since I could use the space Wink
