|
|
I can access the internet (and ping any IP) except my own.
Some reason, I can't ping myself (using external IP).
I used to be able to...and I didnt change a thing but all of a sudden, I simply can't ping my own external IP. I've tried pinging my external IP from multiple computers within my network but I dont get a ping response from any of them. Funny thing is that I can ping other IPs (ie. yahoo.com)
I've checked firewalls and they are all disabled....
I'm a techie and I'm stumped....any thoughts/advice? |

Hello,
Besides the disabled firewall, what other security software is on the computer?

You mention "your network" so I assume you have a router.
Most routers can be set to reject pings. I have to wonder if this is the case here? |

Firewall and anti virus (AVG) is the only security software on the system. To ensure it isn't computer specific, I tried pinging my external IP from mulitple comps....same result though.
I've double check the router settings and it allows pings.
I am completely out of ideas...
I can't remote control my pc anymore |

| Try saving your routers setting & resetting it. Something may have "glitched" in it. Had similar to this happen with a friends & that was the only way to get it properly working again. At least worth a try. |

Hello,
Are you trying to ping your external (public) IP address from inside your network?
Have you verified you are entering the correct IP address by visiting a web site such as http://www.whatismyip.com/?
Have you checked with your Internet provider to see if they have made any changes to how your network connection is provisioned?
