Re: WIN98SE - subject is abt. popups, banners, internet, security, malware etc > I selected Net Connections
If I open an URL of my own favorites or click an URL mentioned in a mail, in
abt 6 or 7 times out of 10 I get:
a) New offer! Internet Explorer > Information field is blank
b) New offer! Internet Explorer > Information field says:
CONGRATULATIONS your banner ID # 41281 just
qualifies for our FREE hourly prize.
Please click NEXT to accept.
As I am not interested in hourly prizes I do click BACK and
the URL wanted opens up indeed. However without
the up and down-SLIDE at the right side of the URL opened; with all the
consequences of it.
If I disconnect only and try again exactly the same thing occurs.
The 'best' way is to RESET first; then there is a chance
that the URL wanted opens directly or jumps in by overwriting the
prize-winning window.
All in all, the doctor overhere has ascertained that my
bloodpressure, cholesterol and sugar content exceeds
the red-alert values in the situation described above.
Formerly I had installed a program with which 'pop-ups,
banners and or ads' could be blacklisted.
Later on I was told that such programs are no more needed as ....... (I
don't know).
Your advises on what to do, will be highly appreciated.
