| Hi, i downloaded windows live messenger to do a remote fix with my daughters computer and then i uninstalled live messenger as i usually never use it. Now when i open outlook express it takes forever to open { usually it is very fast } the messenger thing is the only thing i had changed so maybe something to do with it, i dont know !! After finally getting into outlook i deletd all my drafts and trash as to illiminate possibility of excess stuff there to slow it down, and still the same results. I've done disk cleanup and defrag, cookies ,history to clean off stuff.still the same !! Any help would be appreciated,,,maybe reinstall outlook, if so could you tell me how to do that !! Thanks Jeff

A google search of "Outlook Express slow" (without quotes) brings up a lot of hits that you can search. This is one of the more simple hints I found. You talked about deleting Windows Live Messenger, but maybe they are somehow related in your setup. Perhaps this is all you need.

After deleting Windows Messenger from the system, Outlook Express may open slowly. Check the event viewer for the following system error message: The server {FB7199AB-79BF-11D2-8D94-0000F875C541} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout. The solution this problem is quite simple.
1. Open up regedit and search for the string {FB7199AB-79BF-11D2-8D94-0000F875C541}
2. Modify the InProcServer32 and LocalServer32 default keys to an empty string.
3. Reboot and Outlook Express should start normally.
Of course, to be on the safe side you should first export the keys to a safe location so you can reimport them if there are adverse results (not that there should be, but it can happen). |

I love reading these old threads!
I use Outlook Express and I did the registry search for that string and it was NOT found. It ain't there.....on my computer anyway.
But this was just for fun, because, I have no problems opening O.E. on my PC.
In fact, it opens automatically from the startup folder, when I boot up my PC in the morning. While I'm getting my first cup of coffee, O.E. is busy getting my email for me.
Happy Holidays Everyone!
